Who We Are

True Hearts of Rottweiler Rescue (THORR) is a non-profit, 501(c)3, volunteer organization that cares deeply about Rottweilers and is devoted to (1) placing orphaned and displaced Rottweilers in responsible, loving homes, and (2) educating the public about the Rottweiler breed.
- Our rescued Rottweilers come from many backgrounds…animal control facilities, shelters, strays found wandering the streets, and owner surrenders.
- Once in our rescue program, our Rottweilers receive veterinary care, which includes vaccinations, neutering, heartworm testing and preventative, and any other needed medical procedures prior to adoption.
- When ready for adoption, our goal is to find a home that will best suit the needs of each particular dog, taking into consideration the family, home, children, and pets they will be living with.
- We normally have adult Rottweilers of various ages available for adoption. On rare occasions, we have dogs under one year old.
- If you would like to open your heart and home to a wonderful Rottweiler who needs you, please email a completed electronic application to: trueheartsrottrescue@yahoo.com
- If you cannot adopt one of these wonderful dogs but would still like to help make their lives better, please make a donation. Donations can be sent to to:

Nature + Nurture

Small but mighty. THORR has rapidly become a fixture in the Midwest dog community because of its willingness to share—information, volunteers and resources—with other rescues, and an unflinching commitment to providing the finest quality care to its charges.
THORR dogs receive top flight nutrition and consults with holistic veterinarians, Reiki massage therapists, animal behaviorists, herbalists and animal communicators as needed.
You may have read the three-part series in The Daily Herald that talked about the dual tragedy at Franklin County Animal Control [a massive fire followed within months by a devastating flood]. THORR jumped into the breach, organizing a rapid response effort, sending down truckloads of canned food, kibble, even six foot kennel panels to re-establish housing for the dogs.
Are you a dog adopter who is confused? Concerned? THORR offers a 24/7 help line to all adopters—regardless of where they adopted--who need help assessing a problem, developing a care plan or identifying the right resources to smooth their dog’s adjustment to a new family and new environment.
